The Net Zero Energy Greenhouse and Sustainable Local Food
Greenhouse technologies as a means of food production is a fast growing field, especially in the urban agriculture context. For anyone interested in this eco-friendly sector of technology, this evening's event will be the perfect way to join in a discussion with like-minded and progressive thinking individuals to talk over questions such as: What core technologies are required to create an appropriate enclosure with sustainable greenhouse design? How can building science principles enable effective sustainability strategies?
Leading the discussion is architect Michael McDonough, who is working under a grant from NYSERDA to research, develop, and commercialize new greenhouse types for a variety of sites and climates.
Project goals and talking points will include:
- The facilitation of local and hyper-local agriculture with an emphasis on job creation and sustainability in the context of net-zero energy design
- Energy conservation
- Integrated building systems
- Materials selection in net-zero energy greenhouse design
- and more
